Aristotle's poetics

Q. 1 - To what extent do you agree with Plato's objection to the freedom of expression and artistic liberty enjoyed by creative writers.? liberty enjoyed by creative writers.? – identify texts (novels , plays,poems, movies , TV soaps etc...) That can be justifiably objected to and banned based on Plato's objections.

• sometimes I agree with Plato's objection to freedom of expression artistic liberty enjoyed by creative writers. as we know that some TV soaps that are totally weird and idiotic how makers of TV soaps (daily soap's) are fooling the audience.

I want to give a recent example of TV show 'nagin'. This serial spred superstition in the society . This show is very unrealistic. It should be banned as if I think from Plato's point of view.

Q.2 - Referring to the literary text you studied during your BA program , write a brief note on the texts that followed the Aristotelian literary tradition.

• During my BA program I have studied "HAMLET". Shakespeare's hamlet , prince of denmark can be seen as an Aristotelian tragedy . Hamlet as it's tragic hero .

Characteristics of tragic hero

 

Tragic hero by Aristotle -

- The hero of tragedy must evoke a sense of pity and fear within the audience.

 

Tragic hero with hamartia

- Hamlet's overconfidence led to deaths .

 

Main theme of hamlet

- Friendship , madness and revenge.

 

• Summary of hamlet

- The ghost of the king of denmark tells his son Hamlet to avenge his murder by killing the new king , hamlets uncle hamlet feigns madness contemplates life and death , and seeks revenge . His uncle , fearing for his life also devises plot to kill hamlet .

• Shakespeare's hamlet prince of denmark can be seen as an Aristotelian tragedy and hamlet as it's tragic hero . Hamlet's flaw , which in accordance with Aristotle's principles of tragedy .
